i stumbled upon this picture today.

no, literally, i stumbled upon it.

i know it's odd to look at a pile of human remains and not be totally creeped out,

but there is a very large part of me that loves this image.

it's the sort of image that evokes multiple emotions all at once;

like making you slightly sick to your stomach, but giving you the ability to smile through the uneasiness.

after discovering it out of the blue,

i did my research and found that these two seemingly lovers were somewhere between the ages of eighteen and twenty when they mysteriously met their untimely death.

there was also a lot of other jib-jab and info about them dating back to the neolithic era, 

the bodies being found near the city set for shakespeare's romeo & juliet, 

and the possibility that the two bodies were placed in this position after their death..

but i ignored those parts.

what really captures my attention is the thought of dying intertwined with your lover;

locked in an eternal embrace. 

i find it incredibly saddening, haunting, and beautiful.

what a way to kick the bucket.

it's been one of those weeks.

the kind of week where nothing really seems to go your way.

the kind of week that makes you want to cry a little.. or a lot.

(and just let me say, i did my fair share of it.)

i may be dreading the coming saturday and sunday for fear that the turmoil isn't quiiite over, 

and i may be in store for a few more break-downs.

i can't recall exactly where i fudged over karma so badly, but i took the hint. 

you can bet i'll think twice before ever doing anything ever again.. ever. 

on a lighter note,

this week wasn't a total loss, as i did get the job at the sweet tooth fairy :)

hands down, my favorite part of the week.

lucky for me, a new week is in store in just a few days,

and i definitely think karma owes me one.

pumpkin lust and fairy dust.

as of late, these little bites of love have become a favorite of mine to to create and consume (in large amounts) in the comfort of my own kitchen. 

pumpkin cupcakes with sweet cream cheese frosting. 

not kidding, probably one of the most delicious things i've ever placed in my mouth.

and that frosting..

never again will i hunt for the best cream cheese frosting recipe and come up short.

perfection.

i even made a batch especially for shawn this evening.

i think i'm a pretty cool girlfriend ;)

ALSO,

if you ever doubted the existence of a magical land strictly inhabited by gourmet cupcakes of every flavor,

cakebites, cookies, cupshakes, and nearly every other delectable dessert out there,

it it my sincere honor inform you of some pretty exciting news:

it's real.

it's a little place called 

The Sweet Tooth Fairy.

and i had an interview with them this morning!

so let's all say our prayers and hope to Jesus that my dream job is handed to me on a silver platter,

accompanied by exotically flavored treats, creme brulee cupcakes, and the like.

this is a fun holiday.

it's fun because i get to celebrate the lady that i have the privilege of referring to as my best friend and my mother.

i'd say moms and dads are probably the only two types of people who should have two whole days dedicated to them each year;

mother's/father's day & birthdays.

in my opinion, my mom is a real gem.

 i don't know how my dad came across a little lady like her in a Colorado hick-town,

but boy, am i glad he did.

she's really the best of both worlds in a non-miley-cyrus sort of fashion.

what i'm really trying to say is that all the other moms out there have some stiff competition.

as they say on the playground,

"my mom is better than your mom.."

and i mean it ;)

so i have this friend, and her name is courtney.

she has a fun little blog that i sometimes like to stalk (and by sometimes, i mean all the time.. and by all the time i mean every day.)

srsly guys. after my long and unnecessary hiatus i did myself a favor and soaked in page after page of word-candy, catching up on the daily happenings of courty-court.

i really can't get enough of this girl apparently.

with that being said,

you can imagine how honored i was when she asked me to guest post on that adorable blog of hers.

it took me hours upon hours to get it just right, as i didn't want to disappoint or make a complete ass out of myself in front of her devoted fans,

but i finally emailed that piece of nonsense & you can find it here.

oh, and one more thing.

employment is beneficial at times..

especially those times when i need to afford a new and adorable summer dress or two.

i think the most painful part has to be slipping it back on the hanger and saying to the fitting room attendant,

"no. it didn't work for me."

when in all actuality, it more than worked for me. 

it didn't work for my wallet is what i meant to say.

i did eat that whole slab of "sinful 7" cake in one sitting.

okay no i didn't.

i ate it in the car instead.

but you know what?

i don't even feel bad about it.

because that not-so-little slice of heaven was decadent with a capital D.

that's some dream.

as you may remember,

yesterday i made the venture down to the rents' house in draper-town.

unfortunately, i did something i do quite often,

and made the mistake of forgetting to stop at my apartment to grab my laptop.

so since yesterday, i've been without a laptop aside from the one that belongs to my mom that is typically readily available.

however, my mom is at work today. but do you think that stopped me?

well i'm writing this blog post.

so no. it didn't.

i asked my 16-year old bro, marshall (or as i call him "michelle"), if i could use his laptop to "write a paper". 

ha! i am so clever.

so upon being given permission,

i immediately opened safari to find that it had only been closed recently with a song from youtube on its main screen.

so naturally, i played it..

and i must say, i taught my brother well when it comes to music selection

(well sort of. i will not take credit for the remainder of the shit he listens to.)

and so from my bro's laptop to yours,

today's activities consisted mainly of an early wake-up and a quick study sesh for the political science final i'm praying to God i didn't fail, as well as a lovely drive down to draper-town after dropping the boyf off at the airport for his two-week vacay. 

i just hate it when he skips town on me ;) 

however, my most current distraction is this romantic comedy

which i happen to be enjoying more than i anticipated.

i could, however, do without the awkward 'f' bombs on jt's part, which have a way of not-so-much rolling off his tongue in just about every scene.

but as i am a woman of appreciation, i will say that i am truly grateful for the imagery he provides during the plentiful risque moments.
aaaand they do have great sexual chemistry.

...

but i was always a backstreet fan anyhow.
