this is also the extent of what i accomplished this afternoon.

but if you ask me, face masks hold higher priority than studying for finals anyway.

gunmetal & daisy petals

the reason behind the name.
i figured you must be curious as to why i chose it for my title.
well, let me tell you.
for starters,
coming up with a blog name is not easy.
when deciding your blog name you want it to encompass the essence of your blog, and of course, you.
well, mainly me. because it's me i'm writing about.
for example,
my previous blog was titled the diamond in the rough.
it fit at the time.
it described the way i saw myself, and it worked because my birth stone just so happens to be a diamond. (april fools baby, holla!)
but it was soooo high school. especially for a college girl like me.
& although i can still compare myself to a diamond in the rough at times,
i'd like to think i'm a bit more badass than that.
like a badass with a sweet side..
like a badass who enjoys baking decadent goods and painting nails..
like a badass who wears floral prints and a retainer.

i don't think you could pick anything that contrasted more.
hence the name gunmetal & daisy petals.

welp. this is awkward.

if we haven't previously met,

my name is marissa lynne miller.

if we have previously met,

not awkward.

& you may or may not recognize me from my former blog 

the diamond in the rough.

if so, you may be asking 

"marissa, why the h do you have two blogs?"

the answer to that question is simple.

my old blog was a hot mess.

it was created in high school, and was rarely posted in.

the most active period of time for that silly blog was during the summer of 2011 when baking and cashiering at ikea consumed the majority of my time, 

and the remainder of my time was spent watching reruns of my fav show ghost adventures 

(GA for short, not to be confused with georgia, the state.)

oh, that blog does have many fond memories documented within its few pages,

and i (and you) should pay it a visit every now and again.

but i'm ready to start anew with a blog that i actually consider worthy of an update at least once a week rather than once every 4 months.

i want to be a blogger again.

& so alas, here i am.

i won't lie.

i'm a bit nervous to be making this sort of commitment.
and i do ask that you bear with me as i am just beginning to get back into the swing of things in the blogging community.

but if this blog is going to be any more productive than the last,

then i'm going to have to actually post in it.

so,

in front of the whole internet,

or whoever is actually reading this..

i vow to post in this blog at least once a week,

even if i have nothing to say i will say something anyway,

so help me sweet baby Jesus.

now, for those of you who do not know me, allow me to briefly introduce myself.

as said previously, my name is marissa. or mariss. or babe (to my loving boyf). ;)

i enjoy doing nails, watching lost, petting animals, and shopping for hair and makeup products.

i love baking but don't do much of it anymore as it's costly to buy ingredients and i am currently unemployed.

i ONLY shop at victoria's secret during their semi-annual sale, or if i'm looking for a new swimsuit, and whenever i'm in ulta, i typically spend an hour and a half, minimum, in the clearance section buying random goods for myself and friends.

i love chinese and mexican food, and s'mores is my favorite dessert.
i also love photography, and the cheesecake factory.
as mentioned before, ghost adventures is my favorite show and i have a weird obsessions with the paranormal.

& i have massive amounts of freckles all over my face.
i just love every one of them to pieces.

and so let it be known that gunmetal & daisy petals was brought forth on this day.
